Barcelona finished the season’s final matches without Lamine Yamal, who is ruled out for the rest of the campaign while preparing for the FIFA World Cup. Barcelona has concerns about his fitness and worries Spain may again manage his recovery poorly and bring him back prematurely. Yamal appeared at a Kings League event and provided an update on his readiness. When asked about taking a penalty, he said he would not touch the ball until the World Cup. His recovery began after a left biceps femoris muscle injury suffered in late April, with an initial estimate of six to eight weeks. Spain’s World Cup group matches begin June 15, with possible availability from the first match or later.
