Barcelona superstar Aitana Bonmati claims third consecutive FIFA The Best award
""It's an honor to receive it for the third year in a row. I am very grateful for the votes from teammates, coaches, and the support of the fans,""
""I dedicate this to all of Barcelona. I hope to return as soon as possible, and I am fully focused on my recovery with a lot of eagerness to get back on the field.""
Aitana Bonmatí was named FIFA's best female player for the third consecutive year with 52 points, finishing ahead of Mariona Caldentey (40) and Alexia Putellas (33). Bonmatí sustained a left fibula fracture during a Spanish national team camp in late November but had contributed six goals and three assists in 15 appearances for Barcelona in 2025 before the injury. She scored 15 goals in 44 matches in the 2024–25 season, helping Barcelona secure the Supercopa de España, La Liga, and Copa del Rey domestic treble. Bonmatí was named MVP of Euro 2025. Barcelona holds five of the ten women's FIFA The Best awards and six players in the FIFA women's best eleven. Ousmane Dembélé won both The Best and the Ballon d'Or in the men's category, and Sarina Wiegman was named best women's coach after guiding England to the Euro 2025 title.
