Kees Smit is a 19-year-old midfielder who is a permanent member of AZ Alkmaar's first team and played a key role in the Netherlands U19 European Championship win. Scouts from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City have attended AZ matches to evaluate his performances. Smit identifies Barcelona as his favourite club, which could give Barcelona an edge in any future transfer. Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman compared Smit to Pedri, and Smit has also been linked to comparisons with Kevin De Bruyne and Frenkie de Jong. His AZ contract runs until summer 2028 and a move could cost around €25 million.
