Barcelona admit blockbuster striker targets are now impossible to sign - report | Barca Universal
Barcelona have accepted defeat in attempts to sign Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro and are reworking their attacking plans for the summer. The club has effectively made peace with the difficulty of completing both deals under current market conditions. Sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick are now pursuing alternative attacking reinforcements after Robert Lewandowski’s departure. Barcelona had prioritized Alvarez as a new number nine and explored a possible deal with Atletico Madrid, but Atletico’s financial demands made an agreement nearly impossible. Alvarez may consider staying in Madrid for another season. Barcelona also admire Joao Pedro, but Chelsea have stated he is not for sale and will not consider offers, regardless of price.
"The Blaugrana really admire the Brazilian's profile, while the player himself would be interested in joining a more stable Champions League project. However, Chelsea have made it clear that the striker is simply not for sale. The London side view the Brazilian as untouchable, with Barcelona being informed that no offer would be considered at this stage. Whether the figure is €100 million or even €150 million, Chelsea have no intention of opening discussions."
