Pedri opened the scoring inside 15 minutes with a neat left-footed reverse shot after Lamine Yamal's assist. Girona equalized less than ten minutes later through Axel Witsel's sublime bicycle kick. Barcelona dominated the remainder of the match but squandered multiple chances, including Marcus Rashford's free-kick that hit the underside of the bar, and several acrobatic attempts from Yamal went wide. The late goal sent home fans into jubilant relief and left Girona near the bottom.
