Marc-André ter Stegen has been relegated to second choice at Barcelona behind Joan García, who is now the club's No.1 goalkeeper. Ter Stegen made nine appearances last season after a knee injury and missed the start of the current campaign following back surgery. Ter Stegen returned to fitness earlier this month but has been on the bench for the last two games. Joan García arrived from Espanyol for €25 million and will be rested for the Copa del Rey tie. Playing time for the Copa del Rey remains undecided between Ter Stegen and Wojciech Szczesny. Ter Stegen has 422 appearances for Barcelona and 17 trophies since 2014.
