Vertiv acquires ThermoKey to boost AI data center cooling
""Heat rejection is becoming increasingly critical for data centers and AI factories as the industry seeks new ways to unlock capacity, improve energy efficiency, and scale with confidence," said Giordano Albertazzi, CEO at Vertiv."
"ThermoKey's dry coolers and microchannel technologies slot into Vertiv's broader thermal architecture, which already includes solutions such as the CoolLoop Trim Cooler for regulating water temperatures in liquid-cooled AI environments."
"The ThermoKey deal follows a similar logic: buying specialist engineering capabilities that complement an existing portfolio rather than building from scratch."
"For Europe specifically, the acquisition carries extra weight. ThermoKey's manufacturing base in Italy and its presence in the market will enhance Vertiv's operational capabilities."
Vertiv is set to acquire ThermoKey, a company specializing in heat exchange and heat rejection technologies, pending finalization this quarter. This acquisition aims to enhance Vertiv's thermal management offerings, particularly for data centers and AI environments. ThermoKey's products, including dry coolers and liquid cooling systems, will integrate into Vertiv's existing thermal architecture. The deal reflects a strategy of acquiring specialized engineering capabilities to complement current solutions, following a similar acquisition of CoolTera in December 2023.
