The new Skich app store, aimed at mobile gamers in the EU, launches amid loosening restrictions from Apple's App Store due to the Digital Markets Act. While currently featuring no games, CEO Sergey Budkovski highlights a Tinder-like recommendation system and a lower developer fee of 15% compared to Apple’s 20%. Games are expected to start appearing on the platform from March, with initial interest from about 20 developers. Despite its empty launch, Skich stands out as one of the few third-party marketplaces post-DMA enforcement.
A 15 percent fee will be applied to developers for every purchase made on the Skich Store, including in-app purchases from games downloaded through it, compared to the 20 percent fee that Apple applies to EU developers.
We've developed a Tinder-like recommendation system that perfectly matches gamers with games. The algorithm behind it is powered by 240 genres, which is 14 times more than one can find in the App Store.
