Smartphones, computers and other electronics are exempt from Trump's reciprocal tariffs for now
Briefly

US Customs and Border Protection has exempted various electronic devices, including smartphones and computers, from recently imposed tariffs by Trump, which now total 145 percent on Chinese goods. This decision aims to alleviate the impact on the electronics sector, where companies like Nintendo are already altering their product launch strategies. While there is a temporary pause on tariffs for other countries, China remains unaffected, complicating the import landscape for electronics. The exemptions may only provide short-term relief as trade tensions persist.

The move comes shortly after Trump imposed a 125 percent tariff on goods from China, which the administration confirmed to and other outlets is in addition to the 20 percent tariff.
