Centific, an AI startup and the U.S. division of Pactera, secured a $60 million Series A funding led by Granite Asia to expand into Asian markets. CEO Venkat Rangapuram emphasized this round as a step towards ambition rather than necessity. The funds will enhance their AI platform's capabilities, improve research and development, and accelerate collaborations with tech giants like Nvidia and Microsoft. Centific aims to tackle biases and inaccuracies in AI models to serve enterprises effectively and recognizes the promising potential of AI technology in ASEAN markets.
"This funding round isn't about necessity; it's about ambition," CEO Venkat Rangapuram said in a statement. "This investment turbocharges our mission: to empower enterprises with AI systems that are resilient, agile and meticulously fine-tuned."
"Unless the model is grounded in very specific scenarios and data sets, it can't really solve enterprise-related issues," Rangapuram said in a conversation with Fortune. "There's a whole lot of things that need to be thought about before you can go live in an enterprise setup."
