PAVE Space raises $40M to build orbital transfer vehicles
"PAVE Space is building a fleet of orbital transfer vehicles designed to complete the journey from launch orbit to working orbit in under 24 hours, addressing the inefficiencies in satellite deployment."
"The satellite lifecycle has a structural inefficiency baked in, as launch vehicles deliver payloads to low Earth orbit, while operational satellites function in much higher orbits."
"PAVE has raised $40 million in seed funding, led by Visionaries Club and Creandum, to fund hardware development toward an in-orbit demonstration."
PAVE Space, a Swiss startup, has secured $40 million in seed funding, one of the largest in European space history. The company aims to address inefficiencies in satellite deployment by creating a fleet of orbital transfer vehicles that can transport payloads to higher orbits in under 24 hours. Currently, satellites rely on slow onboard electric propulsion for this journey, taking six to twelve months. PAVE Space was co-founded by engineers from the Gruyère Space Program at EPFL, which previously developed Europe's first student-made reusable rocket.
