Irish tech salaries are a fifth higher than the UK and Germany, averaging over 80,000
Like-for-like survey data from Hays Ireland shows overall tech wages in the UK are 17% lower than in Ireland, and Germany is 19% lower. Salaries were measured across 10,000 tech professionals in 34 countries. Ireland’s tech pay is still well below the US, with Ireland at €81,338 compared with €108,387 in the US. The gap is especially large for data engineers, with Ireland starting around €100,000 versus €68,000 in the UK. Solutions architects start at €110,000 in Ireland versus €97,000 in the UK. Full stack developers, data scientists, and software engineers can earn at least €10,000 more in Ireland than in the UK. High pay coincides with major AI firms expanding in Dublin, despite recent layoffs at several large tech employers.
"A like-for-like job survey by Hays Ireland showed that overall tech wages in the UK are lower by 17pc than in Ireland, with Germany trailing by 19pc. The survey measured salaries from 10,000 tech professionals in 34 countries. However, tech salaries in Ireland remain significantly behind those in the US, measured at €81,338 and €108,387 respectively."
"The gap is particularly wide in positions such as data engineers, where a starting salary in Ireland is around €100,000 compared to €68,000 in the UK. Solutions architects also earn substantially more in Ireland, starting at €110,000 compared to the UK (€97,000). So do full stack developers, data scientists and software engineers, all of whom are measured as potentially earning at least €10,000 more in Ireland than in the UK, according to the Hays survey."
"The high rate of tech salaries in Ireland comes as AI giants seek to establish their European headquarters in Dublin. Anthropic, OpenAI and Harvey AI have all opened or expanded their bases in Dublin in recent months. Anthropic's first batch of a round of 200 new jobs in Ireland saw software engineering roles advertised at €235,000, sales representative roles offered at €200,000 and payroll staff earning from €120,000."
"We've recently seen layoffs at major players across the tech industry, but the continued strength of salaries demonstrates the resilience of the Irish market,"
