On Monday, United Launch Alliance (ULA) launched 27 broadband Internet satellites for Amazon's Project Kuiper, marking the second such launch in two months. This Atlas V rocket deployment from Cape Canaveral, Florida, succeeded after addressing an earlier engine issue, solidifying ULA's role in deploying these satellites. With this launch, the total operational satellites in orbit reached 54. Project Kuiper plans a network of 3,232 satellites to provide extensive broadband coverage. Amazon has contracts for over 80 launches, positioning ULA to handle the majority of deployments before transitioning to the newer Vulcan rocket.
In just two months, United Launch Alliance successfully sent 27 broadband Internet satellites into orbit for Amazon, furthering Project Kuiper's aim to rival SpaceX's Starlink.
The recent launch marked Amazon's second full load of operational satellites for Project Kuiper, bringing the total in orbit to 54 and demonstrating rapid deployment.
