Boeing intends to divert up to 50 aircraft ordered by Chinese airlines to other customers as a consequence of steep tariffs introduced during Trump's trade war. The company remains optimistic about finding other buyers and is actively lobbying for a resolution to these tariffs, which have reached as high as 145%. Despite the trade tensions, Boeingâs demand forecasts remain strong, allowing for increased production of its 737 Max model. The company has also noted that several non-Chinese airlines are interested in the planes initially intended for China.
Boeing is confident it can re-market planes ordered by Chinese airlines to other customers, while lobbying Trump to resolve the steep tariff situation.
CEO Kelly Ortberg mentioned that despite the tariffs, overall demand for planes remains strong, indicating continued growth in the aviation sector.
