Ryanair's CEO Michael O'Leary indicated that the airline may postpone aircraft deliveries in light of potential tariffs resulting from the ongoing trade conflicts. He emphasized that if tariffs are enacted, the likelihood of delaying deliveries is high, echoing sentiments expressed by Delta Air Lines’ CEO. Both airlines are adamant on not incurring tariff costs related to their aircraft orders, echoing concerns over increased expenses in the aviation sector, particularly with global supply chains influencing prices.
If tariffs are imposed on those aircraft, there's every likelihood we may delay the delivery, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary told the Financial Times.
We might delay them and hope that common sense will prevail, he added.
One thing you need to know we're very clear on is that we will not be paying tariffs on any aircraft deliveries, Delta CEO Ed Bastian said.
We will defer any deliveries that have a tariff on it, he added.
