Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Russia should not be rewarded for invading Ukraine. Following Donald Trump's unsuccessful negotiation attempts with Vladimir Putin to end the war, Trump pressured Zelensky to concede territory, which Zelensky firmly opposed. Trump claimed Zelensky could end the war immediately if he chose to, while maintaining that Crimea would not be returned to Ukraine. European leaders and Kyiv reject making concessions to Russia, asserting that Ukraine cannot relinquish any territories, even those occupied by Russia.
Zelensky wrote on social media on Monday, "Russia should not be rewarded for its participation in this war.... And it is Moscow that must hear the word: Stop."
Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff told CNN that Moscow has already made "some concessions" on territory, he added there is an "important discussion with regard to Donetsk and what would happen there. That discussion is going to specifically be detailed on Monday."
