Tesla Sweden extended its lease with the municipally owned Port of Trelleborg while engaged in a dispute with IF Metall and a blockade by the Transport Workers' Union. The company used the port to import vehicles by routing cars via trucks on passenger ferries and by storing and preparing vehicles in facilities leased from the port. The lease renewal prompted criticism from the local Social Democratic opposition, which called the decision a betrayal of the Swedish model and requested political review and approval of future municipal rental agreements. Municipal board chair Mathias Andersson of the Sweden Democrats sharply criticized that proposal.
