Paul Hughes is set to fight Bruno Miranda in the main event of the PFL Europe Belfast on May 10 at the SSE Arena. The night promises excitement with tournament pairings where fighters can win a $100,000 prize. Hughes, a former Cage Warriors champion, made a significant impact in the PFL following his victory over AJ McKee and his challenge for Usman Nurmagomedov’s lightweight title. Miranda, aiming for a resurgence after a recent win, holds a strong record. PFL CEO Peter Murray anticipates a historic event filled with passionate fans.
A former Cage Warriors champion, Hughes was a prized free agent before signing with the PFL in 2024. He made his presence felt at PFL 'Brace for Impact' last October, when he defeated ex-Bellator MMA featherweight champ A.J. McKee via split decision. 'Big News' then challenged Usman Nurmagomedov for the lightweight belt at PFL Road to Dubai, losing a narrow majority decision in one of the best fights of 2025 thus far.
Miranda is coming off a split-decision triumph over former Bellator stalwart Patricky Freire at a PFL regular season event last July. That snapped a two-fight skid for the Brazilian, who owns a 17-5 career mark with 11 triumphs coming inside the distance.
The vocal support for Paul meant this was an easy decision, and I can't wait to feel the atmosphere of The SSE Arena during the main event,' said PFL CEO Peter Murray in a release. 'But we plan to stack the card with our PFL Europe Tournament fighters, and a host of athletes who are prepared to lay it all on the line and put on a show. Belfast, get your tickets, we have a feeling this event will go down in history.'
