Kerry County Council will host the first of a nationwide series of Presidential candidate consultation meetings as the local authority route for securing a nomination narrows amid manoeuvring by major political parties. A special meeting in Tralee tomorrow will feature at least 17 candidates addressing the council to explain why they deserve a nomination to contest the Áras an Uachtaráin election on October 24. It had been expected that each candidate would receive 15 minutes to present, but the allotted time may be reduced because of the large number of candidates seeking council backing.
