Sweden is preparing to donate several Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine. The government is expected to announce the transfer of Gripen C and D models. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is scheduled to hold a press conference at Uppsala airbase to deliver news on international aviation cooperation. Negotiations are also expected to begin on the future sale of additional, more modern Gripen E aircraft to Ukraine. Ukraine would fund those purchases using EU loans. Sweden and Ukraine previously signed a declaration of intent that could enable a deal for 100 to 150 Gripen jets. Hungary later lifted its veto on releasing an EU loan package worth 90 billion euros to Ukraine.
