In September 2025, Wiener Linien will introduce 10 new fuel cell buses from Rampini in Vienna, replacing older e-minibuses. The buses will operate on lines 2A and 3A, reducing the fleet size from twelve to ten. Funded by the EU and the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, the project involves a 12 million euro investment. Wien Energie will produce green hydrogen for fueling at the Wiener Netze campus, emphasizing renewable energy use in public transport.
The new batch of 10 fuel cell buses set to operate in Vienna city centre will replace previous e-minibuses and significantly reduce the fleet size.
The project focuses on renewable energy, with Wien Energie producing green hydrogen used to fuel these new buses, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable transport.
