"neglected"
"It's the exception to have a neighborhood that actually has a thriving, living relationship with its waterfront in New York City,"
Con Edison awarded an $80,000 grant to the New York Restoration Project to support restoration and community engagement at Sherman Creek Park. Con Edison allocated $15 million across the New York City area to fund clean energy career training for 1,800 people, preserve 1,900 acres of green space, and deliver other community-led benefits. The New York Restoration Project, founded 30 years ago by Bette Midler, has restored 15 acres of waterfront including the five-acre Swindler Cove with native plants, woodlands, a children's garden and a freshwater pond. The grant will re-launch paused cleanup efforts and add water quality training and resident engagement opportunities.
