San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency exercised contractual options to order six Solaris electric buses, comprising three 12-meter (40-foot) and three 18-meter (60-foot) articulated battery-electric vehicles. Specifications follow those of four electric buses previously ordered by King County Metro in Seattle, with operational and revenue equipment adapted to San Francisco requirements. Solaris is expanding in North America, having prior battery-electric and trolleybus awards in Seattle and Vancouver, and has supplied over 6,000 zero-emission vehicles across nearly 30 countries. Solaris held about 6% BEV bus market share in H1 2025 with roughly 350 units and leads the continental hydrogen bus market.
