Roads flooded across the Bay Area after heavy rain and 'near-record' king tides
""This is near record for the San Francisco Bay Area," Kennedy told SFGATE by phone."
""The one thing that we want to emphasize is, if you see flooded roadways, do not try to drive through them," Kennedy said. "You don't know how deep the floodwaters are. You don't know how fast the water is moving. Your vehicle could get stalled, and you could get stuck. It's not worth risking it.""
Record king tides combined with recent heavy rain produced significant coastal and creek flooding across Marin, Sonoma, Alameda, San Mateo and San Francisco counties. Coastal floodwaters rose to 2.56 feet near Crissy Field, the highest level since 1998. Interior creek flooding affected Mark West Creek, Colgan Creek and Santa Rosa Creek. Road closures occurred on Lucky Drive, Fifer Avenue and Doherty Drive, and some vehicles became stranded in floodwaters. Flooding along the Embarcadero forced traffic reroutes. Drivers are advised not to drive through flooded roadways because depths and currents are unknown and vehicles can stall; motorists should anticipate flooded ramps and plan alternate routes.
