Now-infamous Southern California bear moves to 2 more homes after eviction from crawl space
"ALTADENA, Calif. -- A now-infamous bear that made headlines after taking over the crawl space of an Altadena, California home for months made residence under two more homes in the area. The bear, known as Yellow 2120, made its way into the homeowner's crawl space under his kitchen around Thanksgiving and had been there ever since. Last week, the BEAR League from Lake Tahoe traveled to the area to help the Altadena homeowner remove the bear using paintballs to scare him out of the crawl space."
"Before the BEAR League stepped in, California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) crews tried multiple times to get the bear out, but the animal kept coming back. On Tuesday, the nonprofit shared that the bear went into the crawl space of another Altadena home after being evicted. He stayed there for one day before moving to a third home."
A 550-pound black bear known as Yellow 2120 entered a homeowner's crawl space under the kitchen around Thanksgiving and remained for months. California Department of Fish and Wildlife crews attempted multiple removals but the animal repeatedly returned. The BEAR League from Lake Tahoe intervened, using paintballs to scare the bear out and installing electrified doormats to block entrances. After eviction from the first home the bear moved into the crawl space of another Altadena home for one day, then a third home where the BEAR League again used electrical mats. The bear left after three days and has not returned.
