Midpen has new volunteer program for trail lovers
"Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with Midpen staff on a variety of projects, like restoring and improving trails, clearing debris and repairing fences. Each project directly supports Midpen's strategic resource management goals, helping to build more resilient ecosystems and ensure our trails can handle whatever the weather brings, said the district in a press release. This work complements our expert trail-building teams by taking on light maintenance tasks, allowing staff to dedicate resources to larger-scale and complex projects involving heavy machinery."
"The San Francisco Opera Guild will be hosting a lecture on Oct. 15 at the Terraces of Los Gatos. Lecturer Simon Williams will be presenting on Parsifal. at 2 p.m. The opera follows a knight's journey to heal a king and bring back the Knights of the Holy Grail. Some themes explored by the story are compassion, temptation and redemption. The San Francisco Opera Guild and the San Jose Opera Guild are collaborating for this series of opera lectures."
Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District maintains a trail network of over 250 miles of trails across more than 70,000 acres of open space. The Trails and Infrastructure Volunteer Program is open to anyone who would like to help maintain trails that residents use to hike, run and bike. Volunteers will restore and improve trails, clear debris and repair fences while supporting strategic resource management goals to build resilient ecosystems and ensure trails withstand weather. The program complements expert trail-building teams by taking on light maintenance and enabling staff to focus on larger-scale, complex projects requiring heavy machinery. The program welcomes seasoned volunteers and first-timers, including high school students needing community service hours. The San Francisco Opera Guild will host a Parsifal lecture Oct. 15 in Los Gatos, with additional lectures scheduled on Nov. 4 and June 2, 2026.
