"A further spell of snow is expected to move east across central and northern Scotland today. Amber warnings are in place until 7pm this evening. Elsewhere, snow showers will be mixed with rain and sleet and it will be another very cold day, with strengthening winds too. Overnight, cold air pushes back in with temperatures widely dipping below freezing again."
"A deepening area of low pressure is expected to move across the south of the UK later on Thursday, resulting in wet and windy weather arriving from the west as well as snow on the northern edge of the system. A yellow warning for snow for parts of England and Wales has been issued. Snow accumulations of 5-10cm are possible, with as much as 20cm possible over higher ground in Wales."
Amber and yellow weather warnings remain in force across the UK for snow, ice and wind. Further snow is expected to move east across central and northern Scotland with amber warnings until 19:00, followed by a yellow warning nationwide on Wednesday. Overnight cold air will push temperatures below freezing, increasing the risk of widespread ice. Wednesday will be dry for many with sunny spells, though scattered wintry showers may affect Scotland and some western areas. A deepening low pressure on Thursday will bring wet, windy conditions to southern UK and snow on its northern edge, with 5–10cm possible and up to 20cm on higher Welsh ground.
