Magnitude 2.9 earthquake is felt in Berkeley

"A magnitude 2.9 earthquake shook Berkeley and the East Bay Monday afternoon, according to preliminary information from the U.S. Geological Survey. The small quake's epicenter was just south of Berkeley along the Hayward Fault near the border of Oakland and Piedmont, not far from the Montclair Village shopping district. The earthquake was recorded at 2:55 p.m., according to the USGS, with a depth of 2.9 miles. Earthquakes are a good reminder to be prepared."
