Councillors say badly parked e-bikes are among the main complaints they get from local residents. The problem is there are a lot of hire bikes left in this central London borough, and some are not parked properly."

Street enforcement officers regularly encounter loud, irritating alarms and perform repeated retrievals. In Kensington and Chelsea over a thousand dockless hire e-bikes have been seized. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is addressing large numbers of dockless hire e-bikes and frequent complaints about badly parked bikes obstructing pavements and roads. Around half a million hire e-bike journeys start and finish in the borough daily. Official parking bays fill quickly and bikes often stick out into roads. The council charges operators a retrieval fee of 84.45 per unit and has brought in about 100,000 so far.
