Here's Dave Epstein's Monday morning snowstorm update
"The big story as we begin Monday is this intense snowstorm enveloping New England, and when all is said and done, 2 feet of snow is definitely in play for some areas. Of course, reaching 2 feet is a big deal. As a matter of fact, Boston's Logan Airport would have to reach 19.9 inches to catapult this snowmaker toward a top 10 all-time biggest winter storm."
"By early Monday, the storm had dumped nearly 19 inches in the city since Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Higher totals of around 20 inches were recorded just north of the city, as well as across the Worcester and Springfield areas. With records dating back to 1882, you would have to surpass 27.6 inches of snow to snag the No. 1 spot as the biggest snowstorm in the city, which is highly unlikely."
An intense snowstorm is enveloping New England with some areas facing up to two feet of snow. By early Monday, nearly 19 inches fell in Boston, with higher amounts around 20 inches north of the city and across Worcester and Springfield. Boston would need 19.9 inches to reach a top-10 all-time storm and 27.6 inches to surpass the record set in February 2003. The bulk of the storm passed by 2 a.m., with lingering snow showers continuing into early Monday evening. Southern New England can expect an additional 1 to 3 inches, with isolated 4–5 inch totals. Winter storm warnings remain in effect into Monday night and early Tuesday for northern areas.
