A flood watch was issued for the Bay Area Friday at 5:38 a.m., in effect until 10 p.m. Multiple lines of showers and thunderstorms, strong at times, may produce excessive rainfall leading to excessive runoff and flooding. Rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations may flood, and creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding can occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Residents should monitor forecasts, be alert for Flood Warnings, and those in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action. Sandbag instructions and county pickup locations are available for San Mateo, Alameda, and Santa Clara counties.
