East Bay regional parks open for free as shopping alternative on Green Friday'
"Locals can work off the turkey and stuffing after Thanksgiving at one of the East Bay's 73 regional parks that will be open and free to the public as part of Green Friday. The East Bay Regional Park District will waive all entrance and park use fees on Friday including parking, boat launching and fishing, in addition to access to Ardenwood Historic Farm as an alternative to Black Friday shopping."
"Green Friday is a healthy and meaningful way to spend the day after Thanksgiving, East Bay Parks Volunteer Program Supervisor Jessica Sloan said in a press release. It's a chance to enjoy time with family and friends in the outdoors or give back by participating in one of our volunteer clean-up projects. Green Friday activities at East Bay regional parks include: Volunteer Planting Opportunity, 9 a.m. at Contra Loma in Antioch (registration requested)"
Seventy-three East Bay regional parks will be open and free to the public on Green Friday. The East Bay Regional Park District will waive entrance and park use fees for the day, including parking, boat launching, fishing, and access to Ardenwood Historic Farm. Scheduled activities include volunteer planting at Contra Loma (registration requested), guided hikes at Reinhardt Redwood, Black Diamond Mines, Sunol Wilderness, and Coyote Hills with specified start times. Fees for state fishing licenses, watercraft inspections, and concessionaires such as the Tilden Merry-Go-Round remain in effect. The initiative encourages outdoor recreation, family time, and volunteer conservation work. More information is available at www.ebparks.org/green-friday.
