"Ireland has two main species of seal: the common seal and the grey seal," she says. "Funnily enough, the common seal is less common than the grey seal in Irish waters! We have about 8-10,000 grey seals and 3-4,000 common seals. Our rescue seal population at any given time tends to reflect that: we have about 25pc Common seals and 75pc Grey seals. Seals are huge travellers, of course, so there is a lot of movement between the two islands of Ireland and Britain.""
