The charging network expanded rapidly: it took 13 years to reach one million, five more years to reach ten million, and only 18 months to double from ten to twenty million. Average charging speeds increased 33% year-over-year to 46.5 kW in 2025. The network includes ultra-high-power chargers capable of 1 megawatt or more, and national highway service areas added 71,500 chargers with coverage nearing 98%. The infrastructure can support up to 40 million plug-in vehicles.
