"A strong cold front is forecast to drop temperatures into the 40s on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. The cold front is "originating from up in the Arctic, and it's just very powerful and working its way down south," said Will Redman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Miami. Daytime temperatures aren't likely to go past the 70s."
"The plunge in low temps overnight could bring an "excessive cold risk," the weather service warned. "Just be prepared to bundle up," Redman said. After a relatively warm Christmas, the final day of 2025 (New Year's Eve) will have a relatively cold start for South Florida standards. "Some other parts of Florida could reach the 20s and 30s. "Persistent northerly winds Tuesday night could result in even cooler apparent temperatures overnight, ranging between the upper 20s and lower 30s across portions of the interior, including areas in Glades and Hendry," the weather service said. A gradual warming will begin Thursday, with high temperatures rising back to the mid- and upper-70s by the weekend."
A powerful Arctic cold front will move into South Florida, pushing nighttime low temperatures into the 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and keeping daytime highs in the 70s. Maximum daytime temperatures will run about 5–10 degrees cooler than the previous week. The overnight temperature plunge carries an excessive cold risk, with meteorologists advising people to bundle up. Interior portions of Florida, including Glades and Hendry counties, could see apparent temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s due to persistent northerly winds. A gradual warming trend begins Thursday, returning highs to the mid- and upper-70s by the weekend.
