Chances for Bay Area rain this week, as a winter weather pattern arrives early
"This is a typical winter-time pattern,"
"You've got low pressure coming down from the north, and the North Bay is where you'll see most of the activity. Then it will move across the region."
"We anticipate more and more moisture will be coming in. We don't see anything glaring in the short-term that would indicate we'll get hot again."
The Bay Area will receive light, scattered rain through Wednesday as a low-pressure system moves down from the north, with the North Bay seeing the heaviest activity. Rain will begin Monday night in some areas, with additional scattered showers possible Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. Totals are expected to be light, generally measurable in tenths of an inch or less. The system departs by Thursday, but the incoming pattern will favor thicker coastal fog in mornings and warmer interior East Bay afternoons near the upper 70s. No strong heat returns are expected in the short term.
