"Yosemite, San Joaquin River Canyon and Upper San Joaquin River are included in a weather alert for strong thunderstorms by the National Weather Service on Friday at 2:01 p.m. The alert is in effect until 2:30 p.m. The storms are foreseen to bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches). At 2:01 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 15 miles east of Yosemite South Entrance, moving south at 5 mph, according to the NWS Hanford CA."
"If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service."
