"The National Weather Service is warning of potential beach hazards along the Bay Area coast through 10 p.m. Wednesday. Moderate to long period westerly swell will result in an increased risk for sneaker waves and strong rip currents, the agency said in its forecast on Monday. It expects breaking waves of 10 to 14 feet. Forecasters also issued a coastal flood advisory because of king tides through Sunday."
Coastal areas of the San Francisco Bay Area will face hazardous beach conditions through 10 p.m. Wednesday. Moderate to long-period westerly swell will increase the risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents. Breaking waves of 10 to 14 feet are expected along the coast. A coastal flood advisory is in effect through Sunday because of king tides. Beachgoers, surfers, and shoreline visitors may encounter unpredictable large waves and potential inundation near the waterline. Recreational activities in the surf or close to the shore carry elevated risk during this period.
