A roughly six-month-old California sea lion pup was found alone and severely malnourished in a parking lot near Mountain View on Jan. 5. Mountain View Police officers and security personnel secured the pup and guided him out of the roadway to keep him safe from traffic. Responders from the Marine Mammal Center transported the pup to their Sausalito hospital for specialized care. The pup was named Babymac and is undergoing treatment for severe malnutrition. Clinicians noted likely early separation from the mother and anticipate a lengthy recovery with hopes for eventual release.
