Authorities and animal rescue workers saved a baby California sea lion from a Mountain View parking lot near Google's headquarters on Jan. 5. The roughly six-month-old pup, named Babymac, was found alone and suffering from severe malnutrition, intestinal unrest and early maternal separation. Mountain View police officers kept the animal safe from a busy roadway after security guards secured the scene and guided the pup into a patrol car. Responders from the Marine Mammal Center transported Babymac to its Sausalito animal hospital for specialized care and rehabilitation with hopes for recovery and eventual release.
