Manchester City received €5.17 million from UEFA's Club Benefits Programme, the highest allocation for any European club aimed at encouraging national team participation. A total of €233 million was shared among 901 clubs for player releases during national team competitions from the 2020-21 to the 2022-23 seasons, marking a significant increase from previous cycles. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin emphasized the importance of clubs of all sizes, including lower-tier teams, in developing players, and announced increased financial distributions reflecting the growing recognition of their contributions.
It is fantastic to see clubs of all sizes and levels, across the entire football pyramid, receiving financial rewards for their vital role in developing players who contribute to the success of our national team competitions -- including the highly successful UEFA Euro 2024 final tournament.
The total amount for the release of players in this cycle was €100m, up from €70m for the previous cycle, highlighting the increased financial support for clubs.
