Tottenham legend offers to step in and save relegation-threatened club if Igor Tudor is sacked
"Robbie is doing great as a young manager, but to have someone experienced like myself... that would be a good formula in many ways. I think that's a shrewd move, whether it was me or somebody experienced with him, because the question would be, is Rob ready to go into that sort of job now?"
"Probably, although in saying that I went into my first management job at, what was I, 34? So very, very young. So you have to take that leap at some stage. And you learn on the job, but you can learn on the job and have some experience around you. Looking back, I could have done with that."
"I brought Robbie to Tottenham you know, and he's done fantastic."
Glenn Hoddle, the 68-year-old Tottenham legend, has expressed willingness to form a management partnership with Robbie Keane to help the struggling North London club escape the relegation zone. Igor Tudor, appointed interim manager after Thomas Frank's sacking, has lost all three matches, including a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace that left Spurs just one point above relegation. Hoddle believes combining his experience with Keane's youth and emerging managerial talent at Hungarian club Ferencvaros would create an effective formula. Hoddle previously managed Spurs from 2001 to 2003 and made over 350 appearances as a player. He suggests that having experienced guidance alongside a younger manager could provide the support he wishes he had received early in his own managerial career.
