Stephan states QPR need more than 50 points

"I don't think 50 points is enough. I think we need more, probably two or three more to be sure. Probably my answer could be different if Oxford, for example, or West Brom, had lost their last games, but it was not the case. So I think we need one more win."

QPR reached 50 points following a 3-1 victory at Leicester City, ending a four-game losing streak with eight matches remaining. Manager Julien Stephan argues this traditional safety benchmark is inadequate and targets two or three additional points to guarantee Championship status. He emphasizes the need for one more win against Portsmouth before focusing on accumulating maximum points thereafter. Historically, 50 points has proven reliable for Championship survival, with only nine teams relegated at that total since 1981-82. Birmingham City is the only team relegated twice while reaching 50 points, and only in 2012-13 were two teams relegated at that threshold: Peterborough United with 54 points and Wolverhampton Wanderers with 51 points.
