Matthew Fisher, playing for Surrey, removed Joe Root and Harry Brook shortly after lunch, trapping Root lbw for 44 and getting Brook caught at first slip for seven. Fisher finished with 3-73 from 19 overs and reduced Yorkshire to 121-4. After that, Adam Lyth and Jonny Bairstow formed an experienced fifth-wicket partnership that dominated the afternoon and evening. They shared 241 runs and ended the day unbeaten, with Lyth on 138 off 292 balls and Bairstow on 116 off 187 balls. Yorkshire closed on 362-4 at Headingley, while Surrey had not batted beyond their early wickets. The match featured several players connected to England’s upcoming Test squad.
