John Egan played the entire 90 minutes at Wembley as Hull City beat Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Championship play-off final. Oli McBurnie scored in injury time to secure promotion, giving Hull their first top-flight return since 2017. Egan joined Hull in February of the previous year after limited opportunities at Burnley, and he had previously been released by Sheffield United following a season-ending Achilles injury. He is contracted to Hull until summer 2027 and made 42 league appearances this season, starting all three play-off ties. The win also increases Hull’s next-season revenue by a minimum of £200 million. Liam Scales won the Scottish Cup with Celtic, playing the full match as Celtic beat Dunfermline 3-1 to complete a double.
