England full-back Walker announces international retirement - Soccer News
"After more than a decade representing my country, I have decided to retire from international football. Playing for England has always been the biggest honour of my career and something I will always be proud of. Thank you to every team-mate, coach, manager, the 12th man, and everyone behind the scenes who has been part of the journey."
"Every roar from the fans pushed the team along, and I'm looking forward to joining them to support the lads in the World Cup. The memories in an England shirt will stay with me forever. I also want to thank my family for their support every step of the way."
Kyle Walker, 35-year-old defender, announced his retirement from international football after 14 years and 96 appearances for England. He served under four managers including Fabio Capello, Roy Hodgson, Gareth Southgate, and Thomas Tuchel. Walker was instrumental in England's runs to two European Championship finals and the 2018 World Cup semi-finals. His form declined under Tuchel, with his last appearance in a June 2025 friendly loss to Senegal. He ends his career as England's 10th-most capped player. Walker expressed gratitude to teammates, coaches, and supporters, stating he will support the team as a fan during the 2026 World Cup.
