Rachel Skerritt has been appointed to the Boston School Committee to serve through the end of 2027. Skerritt previously led Boston Latin School for five years and navigated the school through the pandemic and exam admissions debates. She served on a committee-appointed task force to restructure exam school admissions policy. Skerritt currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Attuned Education Partners and previously worked in BPS as an English teacher and as Chief of Staff. She replaces Chantal Lima Barbosa, who stepped down last month. Mayor Michelle Wu praised Skerritt as a dedicated public servant.
I proudly wear the hat of BPS parent, and look forward to the honor of serving on the Boston School Committee in service of students and families across the city as we collaborate to ensure success in career and life for all of our young people,
The trajectory of my life was changed due to preparation and experiences I had as a Boston Public Schools student.
BPS also shaped my identity and philosophy as an educator, with many of my formative leadership experiences taking place in our schools and at the central office.
Rachel is a remarkable public servant who has devoted her career to investing in our young people and working in partnership with BPS communities,
