"At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story. The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it."
"A biology teacher who asked a teenage girl about her kinks while he was supposed to be helping with her CV has been banned from the classroom. Thomas Munro told the girl, who was named only as Pupil C, he believed children should be taught about masturbation before asking if she knew the difference between fetishes and kinks, a professional misconduct panel heard."
The Independent solicits donations to fund on-the-ground reporting across topics such as reproductive rights, climate change, and Big Tech while maintaining paywall-free access and claiming bipartisan trust. Donations support investigations and documentaries, and enable journalists to scrutinise political finances and produce films like 'The A Word'. Separately, Thomas Munro, 29, head of biology at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, was banned following a professional misconduct panel finding that he asked a pupil about kinks, promoted teaching children about masturbation, and carried out extensive inappropriate email exchanges with other pupils.
