"You guys didn't answer us. You're ignoring us, and now you're just straight lying to our faces with numbers that don't exist. And you call this transparency?"
"stop lying"
"A subcommittee found that approximately was $39,000 spent per student at TIDE compared to $22,467 in other high schools, according to Superintendent Crystal Leach."
Sequoia Union High School District is considering closing TIDE, a tech-focused magnet school in Menlo Park, because of enrollment, program offerings and district financial health concerns. A subcommittee reported TIDE's per-student cost at about $39,000 versus $22,467 at other high schools. Parents, students and teachers voiced strong opposition at the board meeting, accusing board members of ignoring concerns and misrepresenting data. The board did not make a decision and will examine the figures further in January. Community meetings are scheduled for Jan. 13 and 15, and a FAQ page will be created on the district website. TIDE opened in 2019 at 150 Jefferson Drive.
