Students returned to temporary bungalows at Marquez Elementary nine months after the Palisades fire destroyed the campus. The Los Angeles Unified School District completed a rapid rebuild of a temporary full campus and is offering bus transportation from Brentwood Science Magnet and Nora Sterry Elementary. Current enrollment fell from about 310 students pre-fire to 130, a 58% decline, with roughly 75% of original students dispersed to other schools. The $202 million project includes a permanent campus scheduled to open in the 2028–29 school year. Community volunteers aided the return, and musical history plays will continue for now.
